Animal abusers beware

A new Animal Cruelty Task Force has been formed by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office to increase investigations and convictions in animal cruelty cases. Our region has seen some horrific animal cruelty in recent years – fortunately many of these cases have resulted in convictions with abusers serving serious jail time. But there are many cases that don’t get the attention and resources needed to see them through to prosecution, and we’re excited to work with the new Animal Cruelty Task Force to make sure they are. The unit will be led by Deputy District Attorney Hilary Bagley-Franzoia, who says, “These cases are out there, everywhere, and the public is fed up. People must be held accountable for these awful crimes, and I’m going to make sure that they are.”
